Gyms for Glasgow Girls

  The final gym I have visited for this gym review series is Broadwood Gym in Cumbernauld. It is a council owned gym and is part of the ActiveNL chain. This gym I will say was the least well-staffed and I didn’t speak to a single staff member apart from the reception lady during my whole time there, I also spoke to a member I know and he said the staff are hardly around especially in the early mornings which I could see being a hinderance if someone is quite new to the gym and needs some extra support. The gym operates with a fob and gate system however there is always someone at reception if you need to buy a day pass. This was definitely the smallest gym I have been in in terms of the main gym floor. Its only 1 room with a limited number of machines however there is also a separate spin room and class room. There is 6 benches around the dumbbell area and 3 cable machines and only one of every other type of machine which I could see as being quite frustrating at peak times. Howe...

    The next gym I have visited is JD gym Coatbridge https://www.jdgyms.co.uk/gym/coatbridge/. This is the first commercial gym I have visited and while the staff were still extremely friendly there was a big difference in terms of the sense of community within the gym. In all of the privately owned gyms I’ve been to there are always people chatting to each other and having catch ups whereas here it seemed more like everyone was just there to workout so it depends what you prefer I guess. The gym operates on a QR code system where you scan at the gate to gain entrance which seems like a fine system however once you scan out you cant come back in straight away, meaning if you leave something in your car you cant go get it which I didn’t love.
