The third gym I have tried is Prolife Fitness Centre Paisley.
This gym is another non-chain gym however I would say it is slightly more
commercialised then the last two and doesn’t have the same sense
of community. The staff are really helpful and wear branded t-shirts making
them easy to identify. The gym is split into sections, the main gym floor up and downstairs, spin room, a leg
room, café and spa.
This gym is the biggest
one I have been to size wise with so many machines. The good thing about this
is it means there is multiple of the same machine in some cases. The gym also
has at least 5 sets of cables which can be adapted to hit many different muscle
groups which means little to no waiting for a machine. However, it is quite cramped together and therefore you
are very close to the people next to you, which I could see being overwhelming
at peak times. The only other downside to the gym being this size is that
plates can be extremely hard to find as there seems to be no real organisation
with 25s being put in front of 5s which could be daunting for some people who
cannot lift the 25 to get to the 5s.
I trained upper body at this gym and while the main gym
floor was pretty male dominated, I still felt comfortable to complete my
workout. The leg room however was spacious, quiet, full of amazing equipment
with great lighting, and I want to go back and train legs one day. Upstairs also
has a huge cardio area with at least 5 treadmills, bikes, Stairmasters and a class
area where multiple classes are run every day including spin and box fit.
It costs £10 for a day pass, £35 a month for a regular
membership and £23 with student discount. However this is for a year contract
which means you have to commit to the gym, there is
also a 6month contract option but no option to pay as you go. Overall, I would
give this gym 7.5 out of 10 as while I enjoyed my session I could see it being
a little overwhelming in there at peak times and I didn’t feel as comfortable as
I have at the previous gyms. Although I did do my first unassisted pull up here
so maybe it should get a 10/10 just for that lol.
